Joe is a veteran of the U.S. Navy as a Disbursing Clerk 1st Class (Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist), serving 15 1/2 years on active duty and deployed to Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. Released from active duty in April 1992 and continued his military career with the VTARNG in a dual status as a traditional guardsman/military technician till March 2001 when he was medically retired. Joe has served as the Veteran Outreach Specialist at the Vet Center in So. Burlington and as the Military Transition Assistance Advisor(VT). Additionally he was elected as the VFW State Commander (VT) 2012-2013) and VFW National Councilman (2017-2021). Joe retired in May 2022 and lives with his wife Debbie in Georgia, VT.
